Teams from twenty-four yacht clubs competed over two days in 66 races to award the winner of the San Diego Yacht Club's fifth annual Women's Winter J/22 Invitational Regatta.
Congratulations to Marly Isler and her crew of Hope Wilson, Sarah Williams, and Marlena Fauer from the New York Yacht Club for winning first place in the Women's Winter J/22 Invitational Regatta! This was no small feat - twenty-four yacht clubs competed over two days in 66 races before NYYC emerged victorious.
It was especially meaningful for skipper Marly Isler as she grew up sailing at San Diego Yacht Club (SDYC), where this regatta took place. Her grandparents Tom and Jane Fetter were there to cheer her on from the SDYC docks. She shared that “it was memorable to sail with my teammates on the body of water where I learned to sail” – a moment that will surely stay with her forever! Coronado Yacht Club won second place while San Diego Yacht Club won third place making it an all-San Diego podium finish! Congratulations again go out not only to NYYC but also all teams who participated in this year’s WWIR – what an incredible accomplishment by everyone involved!!
